The right mortgage move when you move house.

There’s plenty to think about when you’re moving house – and one of the first things should be your mortgage. Whether you’re moving to a bigger house, downsizing or changing location because of your job, chances are your existing mortgage might not be the most suitable for your next property, or for your financial situation if it’s changed.

There are plenty of options available, depending on what you need to do. If you’re borrowing more money, you may be able to transfer your existing mortgage and take out an additional loan with your lender. Alternatively, it may be better to pay off your existing loan and take out a completely new deal with a different lender – you may well be able to use the equity in your current house for a larger deposit, getting you a better deal and reducing your payments. And if you’re downsizing and need a smaller mortgage, there may be much more attractive deals available.

In each case there will be various charges for early repayment and associated with taking out a new loan. As well as being able to search the entire mortgage market to find a suitable deal, we can assess what charges you might have to pay and work out the best option.
